It started with an idea .......
Lytham St Anne's Radio was formed out of a series of meetings organised by Colin Tanner together with a few 'like minded' individuals, some with professional radio presenter/producer backgrounds working on other radio stations in different parts of the country. Early 2019 a small steering group was set up to look into the viability of running a community radio station serving the area.
Late June of 2019 the steering group reported back with the results of several focus group meetings that had been held in the Lytham St Anne's area. The reports were very positive, concluding that a community radio station would not only be welcomed in the area, but would also be an asset.
In October of 2019 a small 'test station' playing family friendly music was set up online and run continuously for 3 weekends. The success of these initial online broadcasts, both in terms of quality and audience response led LSA Radio to continue broadcasting online for a few more weekends in the Winter of 2019.
Several more development meetings were held, and In December 2019 it was agreed to look for finances and premises in 2020. That was before we knew how 2020 was going to turn out. ~ After the first Covid 19 lockdown in March this year we took the understandable decision to put our plans on hold until later in 2020 and then with the support of some local people together with both Fylde and St Anne's Town Councils .... here we are playing you great music and loving the community that we live in. Watch this space as we grow ~ Thanks for listening !
